About AJR

Alejandro J. Ramos is the Founder and Executive Director of the Ramos Research Institute (RRI), where he leads innovative research projects focused on civic engagement, public policy, and education. As a first-generation college graduate and proud Cuban American, Alejandro is driven by a commitment to empower underrepresented communities through rigorous research and meaningful policy initiatives.

Currently, Alejandro is an MPA candidate at Cornell University's Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy, where he serves as a Brooks Public Policy Fellow. He also holds the role of Editor-in-Chief of The Cornell Policy Review, where he oversees special editions and spearheads critical conversations on pressing policy issues.

Alejandro’s research interests include civic education, electoral integrity, and the intersection of democracy and public policy. His work at RRI has led to several impactful projects, including the Citizenship Empowerment Framework, a comprehensive approach to civic education, and groundbreaking analyses on fast fashion consumer behavior and cancel culture among college students.

​

Beyond RRI, Alejandro has held research roles at esteemed institutions like the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research and serves as a Strategic Research Advisor at the Democracy Lab Foundation, working to enhance civic engagement and democracy in Latin America. He is also the Inaugural Graduate Fellow at the Cornell Brooks Center on Global Democracy.

In addition to his academic and research pursuits, Alejandro is passionate about mentorship, advocacy, and community involvement. His journey from a small-town public school to leading a thriving research institute is a testament to his dedication to making research accessible and impactful for all.
